Rauw Alejandro
In the year 2017 Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi as well as Daddy Yankee released Despacito and it was the top-streamed track at the time within the space of six months. This mix of reggaeton and pop music not only brought attention back to the genre, but as well to Latin music generally. Billboard's Top 100 included four mostly Spanish songs in 2016, and two songs in 2015. At the height of Despacito's popularity the track was one of 19 that mainly Spanish were included in the Billboard Top 100. By 2020 the number will increase to 41 hits that fall into this category. Justin Bieber re-mixed Despacito with a Spanish-language version in 2017 and soon after popular artists began working together with reggaeton groups. Drake teamed with Bad Bunny to produce MIA (2018) as well as Madonna worked on Medellin together with Maluma (2019). Certain reggaeton performers expressed their displeasure at the rise of mainstream music in the year 2020. A new band, Rauw Alejandro, wanted to continue the evolution and development of reggaeton. It was often associated with electronic dance, as well as other types.
