Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington is a Greek American author syndicated columnist and businesswoman. She founded The Huffington Post and the CEO of Thrive Global. Author of over 15 books. Arianna Huffington is an author, television personality, philanthropist as well as the founder and publisher of The Huffington Post. She emigrated out of Greece to England aged 16 where she earned an MA from Cambridge University in Economics. As the first non-English speaking student to graduate, she was elected President of The Cambridge Union' at age 21. After her graduation, she was an influential conservative syndicated journalist. After a few years later she created The Huffington Post which featured criticism of the present political landscape. Her fame and popularity helped to get a number of prominent contributors to post their views about news from the world of politics and culture. Arianna became famous after she was elected as an independent in the California recall elections in order to replace Governor Davis. In addition, she led the Detroit campaign to encourage fuel-efficient automobiles. She was named one of the Most Popular Women in Media according to Forbes in 2009 and was awarded the 12th spot on the list. That same year Guardian included her in the 100 most influential media on their list. In 2011, AOL Inc. purchased The Huffington Post and made her president of that media company, which also included a number of existing AOL properties, including Engadget AOL music Style list and Patch Media. She was born to a journalist and manager Konstantinos along with his partner Elli Stasinopoulos. While she was very close with her father, it was her relationship with her mother that formed her entire life. She displayed leadership qualities throughout her childhood. She moved to England at 16 to continue her education and then enrolled in Girton College Cambridge. As a student and was in Cambridge Union, she joined the debate societies in the college where she eventually became its first foreign female president. She graduated in 1972 with a Masters in Economics. Her career as a journalist and television host began after she graduated. Also, with Bernard Levin she appeared on an edition of Face the music.
