[2] Ortiz is most well-known for his time with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and, as a former Light Heavyweight Champion and holding the title from April 14th, 2001 to September 26 2003, he was the Light Heavyweight Champion. He was the first to enter the sport as were Chuck Liddell and Randy Couture. Ortiz was the most lucrative pay-per-view draw of 2006 because of his battles with Forrest Griffin, Ken Shamrock, and Liddell.
